Tina Turner didn't write '(Simply) the Best', although she made a fantastic job of singing it; it was co-written by Mike Chapman and Holly Knight in the late 80s, way past the time of George's heyday. As for Rangers' fans using it, my guess is that if they hadn't used it, another team's fans would have!

I doubt if Tina Turner has ever even heard of George Best or Rangers. I think Rangers, like a million other sports teams and individuals, adopted the song as their own. I must have seen a dozen different boxers have that song for their entrance track.

Being really pedantic and boring here (sorry) bt she never had any involvement with a song called 'Simply The Best'.
It is 'The Best'.
And Rangers fans probably stole it because it had a good beat and could easily be adjusted to their words (if they have re-written the lyrics)
