I've heard that tongue piercing is a bad idea because of the direct connection the tongue has with the heart. An infection can go through the piercing and go straight to your heart. That's a sobering thought if I've ever heard one.

Be careful about the healing time. Listen to what they tell you. It is an open wound in your mouth and you have to remember that. Take ibprofen if it swells too much or starts to throb. After a couple days it should go down. Don't try to do anything sexual with it for at least 4-6 weeks, your running the chance of getting an infection and bacteria in there you dont want. So be patient with the healing time! Yes they are fun after that!!!!

I got my tongue pierced a year & a half ago... they're fun, but make sure you get it done at a reputable place & follow any instructions they give you to make sure it doesn't get infected. Also, just a word of warning: some jobs will make you take it out. Otherwise, go for it & have fun!! :)
