Nothing my sister as been a carer for 12 years.She is no good at exams & gets paid less than the new cares who have no hands on experience.She has to train them.

I think that a level 3 nvq in care allows you to actually run your own care home or it may be level 4.I think that it gives you more understanding of your job as you have gone into more detailed learning about what you actually do.I know that some people in care who have done it for years resent having to do there nvq"s but im affraid its now government policy for you to have it to be
able to work in certain jobs and it is to become compulsary soon.
I dont think what you are able to do regarding care is affected that much more to what you do,its something that you have to do to understand the correct proceedures in care.

you can be a home manager, begin your nursing , be a senior carer. i have a level 2&3 and i didnt realise i could be a home manager untill my manager told me. but you have to gain yr level4 when you become the manager. hope this helps. xx

in the near future care establishments will insist that their employees train to that standard as layed down by the care commission by being trained to this standard those who have it should be better paid if you get the opportunity grab with both hands
