To make hard boiled eggs..... put the eggs in a pot, add water to cover at least an inch over the eggs.... turn heat on high, bring to a boil. Remove from heat and let the eggs sit in the hot water for 12 minutes. To remove the eggshells, fill a big bowl with water and ice, put the eggs in there to let cool, crack the shells softly with your fingertips while the eggs are still in the ice water. less messy and the eggs come out in tact.

Put the eggs in cold water, and bring it slowly to a boil. If you put cold eggs in boiling water, they will crack and the insides will flow out into the water. That's not what you want at all.

After the water comes to a boil, cover the pot and take it off the heat. Leave it alone for 20 minutes. Drain the water, and run cold water over the eggs. This stops further cooking, so the yolks don't turn green and it helps the shells to come off cleanly. Peel the eggs at once.

You put the eggs in cold water and then bring it to a boil. For hard cooked eggs (the kind that are best in egg salad) you would bring the water to a boil, turn off the heat, and let the eggs stand in the hot water for 20-25 minutes. Then peel, and add to other salad ingredients.

Put vinegar in the water first to make sure that if the eggs should crack, they won't go all over the place. I boil the water before I put the eggs in, I make sure its a rolling boil and that the eggs will be completely immersed in the water. Carefully *place* the eggs with a spoon so that they don't crack in the water. Then I let them boil in the water for 10 minutes, then I let them sit in ice water for a few minutes to cool down and I crack em open and put mayo/sour cream/miracle whip in and then put Parmesan cheese in it and mix it up. A little bit of ceaser dressing is good to spread on the bread, then salt and enjoy!

The easiest way is to put your eggs in cold water. Bring to a boil. As soon as the water starts to boil, turn off the heat and put a lid on it. Time out approx. 12 minutes, the plunge them into cold water. Makes perfect hard boiled eggs every time.

Boil the water first. As soon as the water is boiling you can put the eggs in. BUT first using a small needle, put a small hole in one end. This will stop the egg from cracking while it's cooking. When mashing up the eggs try putting a small bit of horseradish in. (Adds a nice different taste.)

put the cold eggs in the pan first, then add cold water to cover. sprinkle a little salt in the water and cook on high heat-- allow to come to a boil and then cook for 3 minutes for soft boiled eggs (with very soft yolks) or 5 minutes for hard boiled eggs (like you need to use for egg salad)

put the eggs you want in a pan pot cold water over them and slowly bring to a boil let it cook for 10-15 minutes boiling. Don't take them off to soon because you don't want salmonella poisoning from under cooked eggs. Also don't over cook them because if you over cook them you may end up with green yolks.
