Put some more chase scenes and miracles in it. Maybe another love story, too.

If Mel Gibson made a movie for every story in the bible, it would make for an interesting time in Sunday school
I didn't like the passion of the Christ. I found that it over emphasized all the bad, and forgot about the good.

Start a cultural revolution much like the Hippie days of the 1960's. In addition to the drug-induced 'visions' and Eastern philosophical bent, there was also a very large surge in Christian conversion, mainly out of the "Back to Earth" and more pastorally inclined sector of the younger generation. Lots of hip 60's and 70's covers grace Bibles of that era; there are lots of media and culturally linked works that base themselves on the teachings of the Bible. Basically, it was a major boost for Christianity, as well as a real door-opener for other alternative religions. Just bring back the Hippie Days, dude!

Dawn G - I believe it was the catalyst in the true sense of the word. Something required for the reaction but which does not really take part in it. Your atheism was confirmed by the Bible, but you know it comes from your philosophical presuppositions. For many more of us, it turns us from atheists into Christians.
I believe what's required for Christians to read their Bibles is more emphasis in the churches on the Bible and less on "felt needs", "seeker friendliness", medieval rituals, friendship evangelism, etc. The simple fact is that even in many churches today you hear precious little about or from the Bible. Every "seeker-sensitive" or "purpose-driven" church I have ever heard of places very little emphasis on the Bible and much more on self-help. Sure, they throw a few Bible verses in here and there, but between the personal stories from the pastor, the videos, dramatic presentations, etc., who would even notice them?
Many Baptist churches are getting that way too, even if they're not purpose driven. I have heard southern Baptist preachers recently go off on philosophical rants against Calvinism that had barely a Bible verse in the mix, but all personal experiences and philosophical disagreements with the clearly Biblical doctrine of election and limited atonement.

That's great. Yeah, let's have a Mel Gibson film for every biblical book. Won't THAT be grand.
Personally, I read the bible - I keep my dad's copy right by the toilet. And as a non-Christian, I'm all for other non-Christians reading the bible. Because unless you were brainwashed from birth to imagine, to hallucinate that this book actually contains "life lessons" that still apply to the 21st century, you're bound to regard it as I do, as an at-times entertaining, at-times tedious collection of folklore, with many passages that are absolutely stunning for their barbarity, brutality and savagery - as indeed one would expect from the written recensions of the millenia-old oral legends of a tribe of wandering desert nomads.

I think a big problem is that a lot of people think they "already have" so to speak. Most people hear some scripture, most people have seen a Gospel movie, I think they think that's all they need to know?
It's sad really, its probably one of the only books people will claim to have read when they really didnt. And this is also what a lot of messed up preachers depend on... that their congregation wont read the Bible to see if he is making things up or not.

They should bring out super-hero versions in a series of graphic novel adaptations. I'd pay good money to read 'The Lawgiver'. Moses, Judge Dredd style!
You could also have Smite, the mild-mannered shepherd who can fell giants with a single blow.
I can just see it now! Movie versions written by Stan Lee! Should be a hell of a lot better than Gibson.

The Bible is the number 1 best seller every year.
It is the most stolen book every year.
You ask a tough question. I would say, it has to start in the home. Family members need to be seen reading it and then talking about it.
good question with no simple answer

People will do anything humanly possible to get as far away from GOD as they can. They will make any excuse they can manage and justify the absurd as long as it is not GOD. I have seen many questions on here that say "And don't quote the bible" So... The Bible is junk but what I think is important? That's insane. I'm an ex Pagan/Wiccan/Satanist/Alcoholic/Drug Addict/Shaman/Atheist that was saved only by the grace of GOD. So I am a valid source but the Word of GOD is a joke? This is just stupid.
