One "click" is one kilometer, 1,000 meters, or about 0.62 miles. There are two main stories behind the word: based on rifle distance sight adjustments and a method of recording every 1,000 paces.

It is a convenient measurement for foot travel as you can usually do about 3-5 clicks per hour depending on pack-load and terrain. Also, 1 pace (each time you put down your right foot or 2 steps) is often about 1 meter, so it's easy to count. Of course your speed and pace size may vary, so you should figure out your own before gauging distances based on this, but that's what it is!

Like everyone said 1000 meters, but I will say that a thousand meters through the bush with your weapon and about 140 pounds of equipment is almost eternity.
