Which ever translation it is and the publishing company.
Some Publishing houses who publish Bible translations aren't neccessarily Christians so I guess they make profit the same as any other book company. However I heard some companies put a lot of their profits into organisations like Wycliffe Bible Translators who translate Bibles into languages where they have no Bible in their local tongue.
Interesting question though!

Good question. If you keep in mind that there are about 450 translations of the bible, that helps one to understand how this would be possible, also the fact that it's the only book that has been popular for over 2,000 years. Then take the fact that people all over the globe of nearly all languages have a bible. I don't have the name of a survey team for ya, but hopefully this answer helps. Keep in mind though that although the bible has been widely distributed, in most homes it has only collected dust. Two thousand years + hundreds of translations + God's will that people learn the truth about him = best-selling book of all time, maybe not topping the list in 2006, but certainly for all time. Interestingly, in most bibles, God's name has been removed. That certainly wouldn't serve God's purpose! Check your forward or Ps. 83:18 and it will tell you that God's name is Jehovah. That's not too off topic for you I hope!!!

There are as many answers to that question as there are Bible publishers. Some publishers use the profits to finance Christian outreachs, orphanages, medical clinics, and other works like those. Some publisher just the profits to be able to publish other Christian (and secular - as not all Bible publishers are religious) material. Some pocket the profts.
There are as many different answers as there are publishers.

No one holds the copyright to the bible so anyone can print one and profit from it.
Debate continues as to whether the credited author is indeed correct or whether it was a ghost writer using a more famous name to garner sales.

The publishing company, in the case of newer translations the translating organization will receive it's share of the profits. Technically the KJV and other older translations are in the public domain, so they may be published by anyone.

There is NO COPYRIGHT on the KJV so anyone can publish.
All others have ownership stated inside the cover or first few pages.
THAT is the main reason for the multiplicity of perversions!
Bible for left handed, blue eyed people, soon to be released.!!!

It's "public domain" so any publisher can put out a copy and keep the profits from sales.

Have you ever heard of a publisher? There are translators that must also be paid.. You understand they have to eat too. That's where it goes. I hope you understand... Jim
