eat right, no junk food, no sugar soda, exercise - count calories
I lost 30 pounds and I didn't exercise. I started to eat junk again and I gained 15 back so now I'm exercising to get back into my skinny butt pants.
Don't use pills - they will lighten your wallet, not your waistline.
Check out "Calorieking.com" for a little program to track your food & exersise. It has a huge data base of food, restuarants, etc... (Did you know that a "double quarter pounder with cheese" at McDonalds is 730 calories and large fries are 570)?
It is a little program that is like a checkbook for food. You have a daily allotment (e.g., 2000 calories). You eat something and you deduct that from the total. You can link up your PC with your palm so you have the program with you when you go out. It has really helped. Each program (PC and Palm versions) are about $35.

i found a helpful forum called:
atkins diet bulletin board. run it all together and put a .com on it and that'll get you there.
I have just started, so no weight loss yet, but i like the site because i haven't seen anyone say the anything the least bit hurtful and everyone shares. so i can go there to look for motivation, support, or answers to questions.
if atkins is done right, then there's nothing wrong with it. though because of the high amounts of protein you absolutely have to drink all the water the doctors say you should, otherwise you can damage your kidneys in the long run. but it won't hurt you short term.

A high protein low calorie diet AND exercizing. You must do both reduce your calories and exersize. If you just diet you body goes into starvation mode and starts to put on fat for the "emergency" that it thinks it is going through.
I lost 75lbs in 6 months - I still need to lose though - the problem is getting tired of limiting yourself to certain foods and cravings, this is where the willpower comes in

The diet i chose to do was my own version of the Low cal Diet... I ate about 800 calories or a little less a day, and i lost about 10 pounds a month. I started at 185 lbs and now i am 125 lbs, so it worked really well. They stil hasn't come back, thank god. :)

i lost 80 lbs.
i ate smaller portions.
like if you usually eat 15 potato chips eat only 3.
if you usually have a sandwich, eat only 1/4 of the sandwich.
cut your consumption (volume) of eating food ...
eat only 20-30% of what you have been eating
(by volume)
i did not have to change my life at all.
ate the exact same things just less of them.
threw away a lot of food but i got skinny.

I personal start by practicing eating less...thus shrinking my stomach and appetite...
I then start to eat healthy foods with a little exercise...then you start to increase the work load by exercising more and more, stretching your muscles...
intense workouts with 7 to 8 small healthy meals a day will lead to lean muscle

Exercise and stop eating crap. People make this harder than it has to be. It's rather simple.
