I don't use Crisco for any of my cooking, just Olive Oil. I wanted to know because i'm doing a project for my class, and i'm talking about how much grease some people use when their cooking, and that's what i wanted to know. Thank you for your help!

You need your oil about 1-1.5 inches deep in your pan. Just anough to cover the chicken parts 1/2 way up once they are in the pan with the oil. Remember, the more chicken you put in the pan, the deeper the oil gets, so don't start out with too much.

Also remember these: Put the chicken in slowly and don't crowd the pan or the oil will cool off and you will get chicken that is greasy and not well browned. Be sure the oil is hot enough to get a good crust on your chicken and to start cooking the chicken as soon as it hits the oil, that's really the key to not having greasy chicken, fairly fast cooking and fairly high temperature.

Best of luck with your project!

To answer the question for your project, traditionally fried chicken requires enough fat to cover the meat at least half-way.

If you're going to use olive oil to fry chicken, use a milder, lighter, variety. Extra virgin has to strong a flavor for fried chicken.

i do not eat fried chicken. however, when i cook i use that spray on canola oil because it has 0 calories. when you use regular oil, it is 120 calories per tablespoon so I stay away from that.

I use vegeatable oil. Lower in fat than the regular stuff.
