Many.

Basically the technology is called VNC, which stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is a desktop sharing system which uses the RFB (Remote FrameBuffer) protocol to remotely control another computer.

There are many different programs for that. Some are free, some are comercial.

Examples of comercial software would be PCAnywhere or GoToMyPC.

Personally I do not encourage the use of propietary software.

I use several kinds of VNC, because of the different platforms I work with. I will recommend you the ones I use, which are all free, open source and just as good as any comercial one.

for Windows: Ultra VNC:
http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/

for Mac: Chicken of the VNC: http://sourceforge.net/projects/cotvnc/

for Linux: tightvnc

Hope it helps

I most often use Netmeeting to connect to someone's IP and have them share their desktop with me.

It's on all XP systems via Start > Run > Conf (enter)
