An observation about terror attacks?

I think that the U.S. has not been attacked again since 9/11/2001 is the fact that right now in Iraq the insurgents have the approval of America's liberal society to kill American G.I.s ans civilians.But if they attacked us on U.S. soil then American society would turn against them.I hope there will never be an attack here again.Does anyone agree?It is the same way as with the Vietnam war.We were not defeated in Vietnam,we were defeated here in the U.S. does anyone agree with me?

The terrorist know how to garner sympathy from the people they need support from most. Right now they are investing there resouces into Iraq because that is where they will get the most return for that investment. Attacks in Iraq are easily executed and generate more support with less opposition than an attack on the US would for them.

When the situation changes to one where they feel they would benefit from an attack on the US they will not hesitate to do so. And if left unchecked in Iraq they will be in a better position to do so. Going in in the manner we did was a great blunder. Leaving now would be a greater one.

The only reason America has not been attacked again is because its not time yet. Do some research on Al Qaedas record. They bide their time quite well. They dont have to rush things. Al Qaeda usually goes several years without launching a major terror attack. Case in point. They attacked the WTC more than once, the first time being back in 93. They didnt hit it again until 2001. They havent hit America yet because they are waiting-waiting for us to drop our guard again.
The idea that just because we are at war in Iraq is somehow magically blocking 20 terrorirsts from launching a attack in America is quite comical in my opinion. Do you honestly think every terrorist in the world is located in Iraq -fighitng Americas soldiers right now?

Iraq was not the problem. It was a mistake to go in there. The problem was the terror attacks from Al Queda idiots. George W. used Iraq and Saddam Hussein as a reason to show up his daddy. This all could of been avoided if the Republicans in 2001 that knew of terrorist cells operating and they knew of possible attacks would of stopped them before they happened. Yes The government knew of possible attacks on the World Trade centre before they occurred and chose not to be pro-active. Unfortunately they didn't think the towers would collapse. That was the biggest crime the US government arrogance that would give them a reason to go to war. After all if the economy is lousy that is the best way to kick start it. The government would have used these attacks that they were aware of to their advantage. They would tolerate a few hundred dead in order to get there war agenda passed. They really didn't think or believe thousands would of died, and thousands would not of died if the twin towers did not collapse.

that's quite a statement, and i think a very large part of the reason why americans in general are turning from the neocons.

i also find it endlessly fascinating that you casually forget the anthrax attacks, that by the way, happened AFTER 9/11.
