Tell me, why should I start going there. Can you feel any difference since you started to attend it? Is it worth it?

You do feel better...and you feel much more motivated in a Gym, as everyone else is excercising....

I went for 3 months once a week for 2 hrs, to use the treadmills, as i have all other equipment in the house apart from a treadmill, and the atmosphere is relaxing....worth going on a Saturday evening as thats when Gyms tend to the quietest and you can use all the equipment

You pay £20 one off membership fee, and about £3 per session and you get a tutor on your first trip to the gym as she will show you how most equipment works

i would def recommend joining a gym, apart from the obvious changes such as weight looks and body confidence, you can also make some good friends and if you find that you really are enjoying it, perhaps a new career or whatever.
its a good chance to get involved in charity events.
Your general heath will improve, which will help your immune system.
The biggest change i noticed was my self confidence, makin friends and seeing my body change really lifted my spirits. not to mention the odd cute guys you see there.
I would say that the effects are not immediate and you have to give it some time to see any real results but measure your waist, thighs etc as that is gonna be a better gauge for change than your weight ( muscle is heavier than fat therefor you will drop a dress size or 2 but could still weigh the same)
I recommend you speak to a trainer in the gym and let them help you set up a routine they will be able to tell you what will work best for you.
Also i love the classes, bit nervous at first as i couldn't do the moves and things but that is where a have made friends and find the best motivation.
I recommend spin and boxing- torture but fast results and dont half feel good after.
Most of all do it and stick with it, your body will than you for it and youll feel great
good luck

I have personally never been to a gym in my life, I visited one once to see if it was worth attending, with a few friends, I thought it looked great but they said it waws terrible. I work out at home, my house is practically a gym now, it's cheaper to work out at home, but a gym is more social. I'd love to go work out at a gym because I think that the people and atmosphere would provide a greater deal of motivation. Most people I know who attend gym's usually quit or stop attending, it's only worth joining if you are committed enough to attend on a regular basis, if you know you won't then work out at home.

I used to be a member of a gym and I loved going and definitely saw a difference. I could do several different work outs to target different areas and I made lots of friends. The only problem was that there were many occasions due to work / family commitments (and sometimes laziness) when I did not go to the gym as often as I should have. Due to practically every gym now charging monthly membership, this meant that I often paid for a service I was not using. My advise to you would be to make sure you would be motivated to go often so that you can get your money's worth.

ive been going to a local gym for 18 months and at the beginning, didnt know anyone and struggled to lift very low weights and hated the treadmil or stepping machine. You really have to be committed, like on a mission. On the first six months, went for half an hour twice a week, second six months went, an hour twice a week and now i go five times a week, spending 60 mins on each visit. I swop the routines around. Im pretty slim anyway, my main problem is the midrift area. i also swim 7 lengths on each visit. some days i just do the weights, other days a combination or on a thursday is my cardio day. also got to watch my diet, esp sugar= calories bigtime.im just trying to tone basically. remember...no pain .. no gain. good luck!

I personally signed up for a year membership, went steady for 4 months and looked great, then fell out of it because of my busy schedule. Now I realize that I can run outside, do free weights, squats, crunches, etc. in my apartment at any hour (gym always seems to be closed when I want to go), and follow along with fitTV or my DVDs from time to time and I'm back to the way I was when going to the gym. Make sure to do what fits your lifestyle.

Yes i think so, i go to the gym most lunchtimes and once at a weekend. It is really hard to start with but the more you go the more you will be able to do and will feel great for it. You need to keep at it regularly though to notice the difference. Also you can ask them to do a programme for you so that you are doing the correct excersices for you.

Go for it.

Uhhh? Ya if you use the equiptment the gym has to offer that you are wasting money on. Depends what type of gym you want. Just a fitness? Or a park district with basketball and all that stuff. One thing is for certain, giong to the gym wont make you fatter.

I am a health fanatic...so I enjoy going to the gym and yes there is a huge difference. The way you feel, you have more energy, it helps relieve stress and lots more. Why don't you go and see for your self...but you have to be consistent when going to the gym.

I have been going for 3 years.

At the start I would struggle to run 800 metres, nowadays, I can run 8000 metres easily. and also havce completed 3 half marathons in recent months.

I feel that there has been a bit of improvement there ;-)
