I have a 6-year old son and I am not with his father. He currently lives with me. His dad does not provide for him. I am his primary care giver. I am planning on moving to another state, my son and I. Can his dad take me to court and try to take my boy away from me? Is there any steps I should be taking now to avoid this?

He can attempt to, but remember that the court usually side with the primary guardian unless there is a reasonable cause to take him away from you. A questionable career, improper care, ect....but as long as your intentions to move are a good one then the court should side in your favor.
