I've been dating my GF for about 7 months and I know she wants to get married and have kids eventually. I told her when we first met that I want that too, but now I don't think I ever want to get married, with all the doom and gloom associated with marriage these days, and I now think kids are overrated and will cause a sexless, stressful, financial burden of a relationship. Should I just break up with her? I'm scared to tell her this...

If your doubts are simply caused by your observations of other peoples' marriages, I would try to suppress them. You have to live your own life. You can't assume your marriage would consist of "doom and gloom" just because many others do.

You need to assess your relationship with your girlfriend in a vacuum and decide if you personally believe you can have a happy marriage, then take it from there.

Globe,
Just be frank and tell her up front what you just told us. And above all be honest, sincere and serious.

She will have a million excuses or if's, and's, but's or what if's, but don't let her trap you any deeper into a deal that you absolutely don't want any part of any longer.

It's infinitely better to take a little heat now than to live a good portion of your life hating yourself and her for a wrong decision that you made based on emotion rather than logic.

She will get over it, believe me.....and start cruising for someone else before too long to do what she wants, her way.

You're scared to tell her because you lied to her by saying that you want the same thing. Now ,you did that to get into her pants,it's understood but you should have the decency to tell her the truth. You're a man, aren't you?
