Oh yes! It is essential for Tiramisu, but you can also make a quick and wonderful dessert with it as follows: Whip 1/2 lb. softened mascarpone with 2 tbs superfine sugar and 1 tbs sweet marsala or 1 tsp vanilla extract. Whip 1/2 cup heavy cream (or use Cool Whip) and fold into cheese. Use as topping for fresh berries (blueberries, strawberries or raspberries) and sprinkle the top with lightly toasted almonds.

Besides the obvious (tiramisu, cannoli or brandysnaps fillings, etc.), mascarpone can be used a thickener for any homemade soup (tomato, spinach, or potato). Just blend a little mascarpone with milk and add to any chicken dish that requires a creamy consistency.
