In most cases, you travel round-trip from City A to City B. I want to go from City A to City B, City B to City C and return to City A (from City C). Is this possible or easy to do directly through the airline web sites?

Yes, you can do this with Kayak, http://www.kayak.com -- then click "Multi-city." Kayak will compare Delta, other airlines, Expedia, Orbitz, consolidators, aggregators... it compares a lot of stuff with just one search, so it's a real time-saver. However, it will not check prices for Southwest or Allegiant, since those airlines only book via their own websites and call centres.

Yes. When you do this, on the top of the reservations box is going to be selections for one-way or multi-stop. Keep in mind when you book multi-stop reservations you are basically building a bunch of one way fares, there will be no discounts. Its very easy, if you need help walking through it, shoot me an IM and I'll be glad to help you.

Yes, I did this recently with Delta - and have done it in the past with Southwest. It was no problem.
