if u are an american...u do not need a passport to go to and from puerto rico and the u.s......since puerto rico is a commonwealth of the united states....which means that puerto rico is united states territory, you do no need passports.....even tho its a good idea to have one anyway........but you should only need an i.d. to travel to puerto rico. when the law for passports passed.....a lot of people in puerto rico (and puerto rican in the u.s.) got confused with the thought of weather or not they needed passports to travel to the u.s.......the fact is that they don't (we don't!!!) so........to answer your question.....u should only need a foto i.d. to travel to and from puerto rico........peace out! one!

piragua is right...if you are a US citizen, you DO NOT need a passport to travel between the States and PR or the Virgin Islands...both are American territories....you do need some photo ID....drivers liscense, etc just as if you were flying from New York to Miami

just need a passport if your only staying for up to a month ..any longer and youll have to apply for a 6 month work or touring visa but its easy to get .......I work there sometimes its beautiful
