Some right wing religious nut reading a statement in his garage proves nothing.

Free speech is still guaranteed under your Bill of Rights. Churches...particularly christian fundamentalist ones...have been blatantly lobbying from the pulpit for years, particularly during the Bush dictatorship, a clear violation of the separation of church and state. It allows them to use their tax exempt status to promote and fund a political viewpoint....ie to lobby. This is not a freedom that has been extended to groups with an opposing point of view.

I support the right of all points of view to have the freedom to express opinion in a civilized way, but there has to be a level playing field.

That man obviously doesn't understand what he's talking about. It doesn't stop them from saying anything. It does, however keep them in line because obviously threatening to take away their Tax Exemption status if they continue to be political in that sense isn't working. The churches are for Religious purposes... if they get into Politics, they should be called Lobbyists. Every other group in the US that gets into Politics is listed as a Lobbyist. This does not stop them from talking about Politics.... but it does change their status from that of a Religious group to a Political group. I'm sure this won't stop the churches from being political during their services, but it will hamper Christian Conservative groups that seem bent on jumping into our politics, which are supposed to be Secular.

I wish some of these high strung conservative groups would find a place of their own. Then they can have the theocracy they want. Instead, they make their religion look bad by jumping into secular politics, claiming that the Founders of this nation wanted it the way they want it.... which obviously holds no truth at all. If they want to play sneaky games and still try to look good, then they should be listed as Lobbyists.

Yes it does sound scary the way he puts it but the bill may have been made b/c there are many violent protest groups out there using religion. So it might be a good thing to have. I'd rather have a bill that would take porn off the internet though. Also he may not have all the facts. Theres lots of people in the world who spew out opions without doing the research on it first. So go look it up yourself sometime. U may find this bill isn't so bad as the old man thinks.
I also think he's just another old opioned man like my Grandfather spewing out stuff about politics wanting things to go His way.

I require a better source than some nut reading on a video. You can't just take his word for it. He could be lying. He could be exaggerating. Odds are he is totally misinterpreting the bill.

You can easily get online and find the actual bill this person is referring to, or find out if it even exists. I'm not questioning this person's opinion, or yours. You have a right to believe what you want to believe. Just make sure you have all the facts before you freak out! People, Christian and non-Christian alike, say stuff like this all the time, and 90% of the time there is no real basis for it. It is just fear-mongering.

you're saying the "vast Bang" is loopy. you purely called God loopy, because of the fact is exactly how God reported He created the universe. contained in the initiating God reported, "enable there be gentle." That, my sister in Christ, is the huge Bang. the huge Bang says the universe began with a huge blast of capability. "gentle" is capability. E= mc^2. The Bible is the only non secular e book contained in the international the place cutting-area technological awareness data suits what Moses reported 3400 years in the past. Had you studied nuclear physics; you will possibly have made the relationship. that's what you permit out once you do no longer learn technological awareness. Jesus is the large Scientist. lots of issues he says, and how he says them, are the end results of prepared mathematically-minded guy. So. pay interest! do no longer underestimate God. do no longer underestimate scientists.

Yes....apprently the liberal democraps are afraid of the gospel message that sets men free.
Obviously the dems don't want the public knowing what they do behind closed doors now that they have a majority....
That's what happes when you get narrow minded anti-free speech democraps in Congress...

Thanks for the message.

I'd be really leery about this. The best way to proceed is to call your Senator or Congressman's office and request the text of those proposed bills - that way you will know exactly what is been proposed.

Do a little investigating. the proposed bills are not a threat to churches they are a threat to the lobbyists that have been running this country into the ground

The controversial section of the bill was removed (the part you refer to) and it passed.
