I will neverunderstand this either. Isn't religion supposed to make the world better. If the person they worship were standing before them would they still have that same hateful attitude and spew hatred all over the place?

Becasue of Pride. They though they could enter the kingdom of God by the beautiful religion they have.

According to POULETE GAUCHE - The religious wars began with overt hostilities in 1562 and lasted until the Edict of Nantes in 1598. It was warfare that devastated a generation, although conducted in rather desultory, inconclusive way. Although religion was certainly the basis for the conflict, it was much more than a confessional dispute.

According to Wikipedia - A religious war is a war justified by religious differences. It can be the legitimate forces of one state that has an established religion against those of another state with either a quite different religion or a different sect within the same religion, or, at the level below a state, it can be a faction motivated by religion attempting to spread its faith by violence either within the state or elsewhere. The European Wars of Religion, the Crusades, and the Reconquista are frequently cited historical examples.

I think its more of ego Problem between societies, because every religion believes that fighting is bad and killing is bad. That is the basic priniciple of any religion. However, if one kind of society or religion people do not like the other relgion people, they end of say i hate them. SO when fight does accure between people then it is made up to be religious issue. It's not about religious its about personal ego problem. Personal experience, I have heard people saying i hate all the muslim people because they do not know how to react to people. or Christians saying I dont like Jews. So its not the religion they are having problem w/ its the people who are in the specific culture. So it ends up calling fighting for religion, which in reality is their own personal insight problems

People fight about religion because they fail to understand the very basic philosophy behind it - love and compassion for each and every creature of the world. It is also true that some religion never explored this to a reasonable depth.

People who fight about religion have no spiritual values. If you took every religion in the world, and took away their politics, icons, hierarchy, they would be left with all the same values... love, respect, honour, compassion, honesty, etc. They choose to ignore those values that are threaded throughout their holy books and teachings. Muslims, Christians, Buddhist, etc all talk about peace in the world. What they don't realize is... fighting for peace is like fornicating for virginity! It just doesn't work that way.

Some like blue color, (jews), some like green, (muslims), some like Orange (hindues), some like white ( Christians), etc,
But actually all colors are beautiful.
All religions are different ways to reach one God, the main creator.
But we have been told by our leaders (who divide and rule or to get mass sympathy, in political matters these day), :that we have to fight with others. So we the common people follow them blindly and fight.! Thinking that religion and politics are connected only to fight not for any better purpose, we the bunch of fools,
accept the will of our so called leaders, who have name or fame to gain at our expense.

Because those who fight do not belong to any religion or understand what the religion is all about.

Religion is a deeply personal issue based more on opinion and faith rather than cold hard fact. No one likes to have their opinions challenged, people prefer to think they are correct in their beliefs. Hence the fighting.

stanley,
Everyone feels that his religion is the best. He therefore tries that everyone else also must follow the same religion. That person resists, since he thinks that HIS own religion is the best. The fight ensues.
