Hey. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Babies are born with different reflexes that occur naturally because they haven't developed the ability to control their bodies.
Here is a website that lists the different relfexes:
http://www.lpch.org/DiseaseHealthInfo/HealthLibrary/newborn/behrefx.html
*** What you described sounds like the Moro reflex:
"The Moro reflex is often called a startle reflex because it usually occurs when a baby is startled by a loud sound or movement. In response to the sound, the baby throws back his/her head, extends out the arms and legs, cries, then pulls the arms and legs back in. A baby's own cry can startle him/her and begin this reflex. This reflex lasts about five to six months."
***ABOUT VOMITING
First make sure that the baby is not just spitting up instead of vomiting. If it just flows out of her mouth onto her clothes or something, it is probably just spitting up-normal. If it projects or spurts out away from her body, that is vomiting. Here is some info:
"...there's a difference between real vomiting and just spitting up. Vomiting is the forceful throwing up of stomach contents through the mouth. Spitting up (most commonly seen in infants under 1 year of age) is the easy flow of stomach contents out of the mouth, frequently with a burp." http://www.aap.org/pubed/ZZZN0CPWEDC.htm?%E2%8A%82_cat=107
***I am SO GLAD to hear the you are breastfeeding.I have two daughters. The first one nursed until 16 months old and the other is still nursing at 15 months. The second one spit up constantly and sometimes it even seemed to be vomiting. I asked my midwife and she said that she most likely was intolerant of the COW'S MILK in MY DIET. I knew that was highly likely because I drank milk like crazy. She said to cut out milk products (milk, chocolate milk). She said I didn't need to cut out ALL dairy (cheese, yogurt etc.) if there was some change once I stopped the dairy. So I asked her how long it would take for the baby's body to get better adjusted to the milk. She said it would take about 3 months.
So I cut out the milk and there was an IMMEDIATE difference in the frequency of spitting up. AND!!!!!! I lost 20 pounds because milk is very fattening.
The baby is now 15 months old and we notice that when we give her ice cream or creamed soups (which is VERY rare because we only give her Goat's milk to drink) she might get sick and vomit. Your baby may continue to have this problem. However, goat's milk is closest to human milk than cow's milk. For that reason, we only give our children goat's milk to drink and try to make everything they eat out of goat's milk.
I use herbs and natural remedies every time we have sicknesses, so I would be glad to help you if you have any other problems. EMAIL ME if you are interested. This is what I say: Your little girl came fresh from Heaven and God gave you everything you need to take care of her.
***All of these problems can be treated without going to the doctor and without prescriptions OR over the counter drugs
*Thrush
*Ear infection
*Gas
*Colic
*Deep cough with congestion
*Sore Throat
*That oozy stuff that comes out of the corner of her eyes? Drop some BREASTMILK into her eyes. Breastmilk kills BACTERIA (not viruses, but bacteria). That's why mommy's milk is so good.
*and so much MORE!

As the Baby develop there may be some muscle spams and jerking at times. Also, look at how the Baby lay when Breast Feeding. May try repositioning or just remove the Baby for a few minutes and burp during Breast feeding.
I would still see the Doctor. I feel during the first few years regular check ups at the Doctor is good to get a Medical Record AND Family History started. Do not forget; Doctor means a General Doctor, he can observe and get records and know when the Baby need a more Specialized Physician. Then there the Eye Doctor, he needs to be involved early. This help catch simple problems that can be fixed early but become established over time. Then when those Teethfers start coming a Dentist in time not bad either. This get the Baby used to all these "Doc Holidays" early and make it easy in the future years.

Hard to say, Mom. A "little" spit up after feeding isn't that unusual. It could also be something as simple as her swallowing a lot of air. Are you burping her? But really there is no way to say based on so little information.
You don't elaborate on the moving of the arms and legs. Newborns do move their extremities around alot. When they are startled or upset they will often "shake" their extremities more than usual. But again I can't tell based on so little information.
Have you got a pediatrician or a family practitioner for the baby yet? If so, try calling the office and describing what is happening. From there, they will tell you what you can try at home and whether it is necessary to bring the baby in.
Good luck to you and congratulations on your new baby

The twitching you describe is not uncommon in young babies as their nervous systems are still forming and growing.
I doubt it is associatd with her problems nursing. It may be that you ate something yesterday that is passing into your breast milk that the child cannot tolerate. Wait four hours from the last time the babe vomited and offer her a bottle with water. If she can keep the water down, then offer her a bottle with a diluted juice. If that stays down then give her formula tonight, drink alot of water yourself to flush your system and start nursing again tomorrow. If she vomits up everything you offer her, time to see the doctor.
