I've been renting for the last couple of years and have never heard of that.

in CA there is a "renters tax credit." Renters get a SMALL credit because they are renters. I'm not sure about income caps since our clients are high income, don't rent and the program automatically calculates it.

I assume you're talking about the programs that many states have for a partial rebate on your rent. See your state website - that might have more info. Every state has different rules.

In PA, it's only for people over 65, disabled, or qualifying widows and widowers. There are income limits too - last year was $15K but is increasing this year. Percent rebated on rent or on property taxes depends on income.

In certain states, renters DO get a break, but it depends upon your income vs your rent paid out, basically. Property homestead credits are with your state forms and you usually have to pick them up, as they aren't mailed to you. Also, there are Homestead Heat Credits, if your heat isn't included in your rent, and again, it all depends upon your income vs rent . That, too, is a form you have to pick up. Something definitely to look into.
