My dad says that I am not allowed because old men will find out where I live and break in our house to abuse girls. I have never heard of this happining and how can I convince him to let me have one?

You'd be surprised at the things that can lead a stalker to you. Even something as innocent as a t-shirt with your school sports team named on it can lead to someone you don't know having your address.
A compromise you could make with your dad is that you will show him anything you post before you post it and put him on your freinds list so he can see your page any time he wants. You could get around this a few ways, like making a web page that isn't on myspace, saying you are 100 years old, or something like that, but don't do it. Your dad has your safety at heart--don't go around him, work with him!

In Canada you'll get a lot of pastime as an adolescent. you may perhaps do a storage sale, that would get you massive money and occupy rather your time. infant sitting too, till you don't love youthful ones :) dogs sitting or puppy walking. Mowing lawns, doing a bake sale or a lemonade stand. good success. P.S. at the same time as i become 13 which become very last 12 months. i tried a lot of distinct jobs and the most effectual one will be storage sale and bake sale. no longer truly with the infant sitting because maximum father and mom did not have self belief a 13 12 months previous with their youthful ones. wish this helped.

I don't think you're going to be able to convince your father that it will be okay for you to have an account on Myspace. You may very well be more computer literate than he is, and there is a fear factor right there. And that gives the predators a psychological advantage over you and a technological advantage over your dad. Bad combination.

MySpace is only for two groups of people.
1) Abducters
2) Abductees
Those are the only classification of people who use MySpace on a regular basis. If you're not the attacker, you're definitely the victim.
There has been talk in the U.S. to shut down MySpace because they refuse to keep up with the needed security for kids.

the required age to sign up for myspace is age 14. you can be careful on myspace, and be careful about the information to submit on not just myspace on the internet.
oh ya, thats going to happen. statistics show that 6 girls under age 25/per day get sexually attacked by some sicko the meet on myspace

Aww come on people!!!
If she doesn't give away any info on where she lives.. nothing bad will happen.
She has more of a chance of walking down the streets and getting pulled into a car then getting sexually abused off myspace. Yes it's happened, but it only gets publicised because it's a new invention and it'll shock people. getting pulled off the street happens A LOT more.
Be rebelious, do what you want.. just be smart about it and don't give away any information about yourself.

It might be best if u wait a little longer cause myspace isnt the best site to be on!
But If u get on Its best to just have people that u know on ur friends list!
Maybe if u tell ur day that u will only add people that u know,then maybe he will let u have one!

He's right. You can only have one if you have your parent's permission if you're under 18. There have been MANY cases of kids giving away too much info and getting abused through myspace - obviously, they aren't capable of figuring out who to talk to and who not to talk to. So listen to your father.

Hello? This is happening all the time - old guys meeting up with young girls. Your father is right - respect him - you don't need to be on myspace.
