Ususally the weather is pretty nice in May, but in Los Angeles it is never 100% predictable. I would suggest bringing sweaters and if the weather is nice just leave them in your rooms.

You will want to see Hollywood's Walk of Fame and also Universal Studios. Long Beach has some really nice places to visit, like the Aquarium of the Pacific.

Redondo Beach has a wonderful Fisherman's Wharf where you can find many restaurants with an ocean atmosphere.

I would also suggest visiting the South/West Museum where you can learn about the life of L.A.'s native Americans.

With that many kids, I'd stick to the amusement parks, Disneyland one day, California Adventure next day, then Knott's Berry Farm or Universal Studios the next.

Don't even think about doing more than one a day, can't be done.

Weather should be fine. Typically, morning overcast, burning off to hazy sun in the PM.

Where are you coming from?

Have a great trip.

I live in L.A. During May, it is very warm like 75-80 degrees. Go to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Hollywood, and my ex girlfriend Heather's house. I had the most fun at Heather's house.

Warm to hot.

Things to see:
Hollywood. Not because it's much to see, but because you'll enjoy seeing what it is, and being there, and the kids would be disappointed if you didn't.
Santa Monica Pier. Quintessential California. The kids will love it.
Olvera Street, downtown. Old Mexican California, the original center of the city.

Enjoy.
