Yes you can ..Just make sure you dont polish too deep into the metal...The black is just paint.

You could, but why? Glock put that black coating on for protection & durability, so why take it off, especially risking messing up the tolerance fit between barrel and slide?
I have an aftermarket barrel for my Mod.17 that came that way & it is close tolerance fit. If you must have the bright finish, you could find said barrel on www.gunbroker.com, and still have your factory barrel w/o screwing up your fit and finish of your original factory parts. There have been extended versions, either ported or threaded, as well as stock-length.

Leave the barrel alone. You could take off the oxide finish on the barrel without harming the tennifer treated steel, but why bother. The gun came a certain way and just leave it that way. Don't booger up your gun just to be different.

Lol, oops.. I dont know much about guns so when i first read the title of the question I kinda misinterpreted it lol.. took it a little dirtier than you meant.. I figured you meant actually strip and "polish your glock barrel" or so to speak lol.

Lol i'll leave you alone now just thought I'd share my interesting story.
