I have had a lot of friends that got on suboxone and thy say it is the best thing they have ever done. It's not going from one drug to another suboxone is not a drug. it wont get you high it will help and it will stop the cravings and when you get off there won't be withdrawals. i'm about to start it my self i go in a week i can't wait. if you go through the withdrawals you will still crave it. the suboxone will help with that. well let me know if you do it...

You are asking a question that is only relative to your addiction. Nobody else can give you the answers that you seek. I can tell you that I tried to use it to get off methadone and it didn't work. It depends on how long and how much you've been doing. If you've got a 1 or 2 year run going, I recommend going into rehab, detoxing, paying attention to what they teach you there and upon discharge, getting your butt to a narcotics anonymous meeting. And keep going, 12 step programs are the only thing proven to work for long term remission of addiction. The suboxone is a gamble, and only works for a few . I now work as a substance abuse counselor so I have much data to draw from. Good luck and God bless. Peace.

Honestly, it's just trading one addiction for another. I strongly recommend going into detox. Getting off everything. It won't kill you, and they can make you much more comfortable giving you medications like clonodine that will greatly lessen your withdrawal symptoms (like that jumpy arm and leg thing. You know what I'm talking about.)
If you were to go on the Suboxone, you would still have to get off of it eventually. So why prolong it? You will feel SO much better if you get all of the garbage out of your system. You will wake up and think, "OMG...I didn't realize how incredibly AWFUL I felt before!"
