For those who don't know the words,

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England’s mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England’s pleasant pastures seen?
And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark Satanic Mills?
Bring me my Bow of burning gold;
Bring me my Arrows of Desire;
Bring me my Spear; O clouds unfold!
Bring me my Chariot of Fire!
I will not cease from Mental Fight,
Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England’s green and pleasant Land

it is sung in churches, but i dont think that it is a religious song. Blake was religious, but he didnt believe in the church and what it represented. so from that point i wouldnt have thought that the church would want to sing that, especially as he caused a lot of trouble for them in the 18th century!!!

phone up the reg office and explain the sit, im sure they can give u a list of accepted songs.

congratualtions and i hope your day goes well!!!!

Interesting. What country do you live in? I live Scotland and to be honest could be same here I just don't know. I have been at weddings in other venues, not a registry office where a Registrar has carried out the ceremony and religious music was played and sang.

Why not get married somewhere else, if you really want the religious music, sounds like a better option.

well, it's a hymn. but it's commonly thought of as a hymn to England rather than to God specifically, so you're probably alright.

I didn't know about that law - very interesting!

You can check all the songs with the Registry Office - if you give them a call they will tell you.
