I don't believe it's the MMR vaccine but it sounds like he has childhood disintegrative disorder. " Childhood Disintegrative Disorder includes severe regression in language(communication) skills, social behavior, and all developmental motor skills. After a period of what appears to be typical development through the ages of 0-24 months, the child regresses at between ages 2-4 years (approximately)."

Autism generally manifests itself around the age of 2 and MMR is given around the same time. I think it is simply the time, if MMR was given at 3yrs your brother still would have been autistic around the age of 2 yrs. But that does not help. You need to know how to help your brother and deal with his autism, laying blame with MMR or anything else won't make it any better. I have seen a lot of stuff on tv where the parents are convinced it was due to MMR, maybe there is something in it I don't know. I would have thought that a lot more kids would be autistic if it were the case.

having worked with austistic children, i have met many parents who believe the MMR had an effect, but as many who don't. more boys than girls tend to develop autism, and the degenerativism mentioned above is another factor. the autistic gene is thought by some to be dormant in the body, and a number of things could trigger it, or it can develop by itself. before the MMR vaccine was invented there were autistic children. some parents need a'proper' reason why this has happened to their children, especially when they have been developing 'normally';i looked into it myself when my kids came up for vaccination age,i followed my intsincts&they all had the jabs...mine are all girls so less likelyhood anyway but was still nervous for months before&after due to media hysteria really. thankfully thesedays there are many many support systems/special schools/resources/better research&understanding.. good luck and have fun..the rewards may be fewer but are usually more!!

People have been trying to make the connection between the MMR vaccine and autism - I don't believe nothing has been proven yet. Have your parents talked with your brother's pediatrician regarding this? I'd say your best bet is to do some researcy on the web, you'll come up with plenty of information and you can make your own conclusion from what you find.

By the way...see above...nothing's been proven that it does cause autism - statistically speaking, you could say there is a strong correlation.

I understand how upset and anxious this will be for you and your family but please let me assure you that many children with autism go on to lead very happy and very stable lifes. I do realise the stories and suspicions related to the mmr vacine and autism but this has no definate conclusion so its very hard to say whether it does cause autism or not. I would suggest that you and your family try to contact your gp or health visitor with regards to support and help for your brother. there is specialist help available for families and children with autism and I am sure that your doctor or health visitor would give you nformation about this. How old is your brother now?

The ingredient in the vaccines suspected of causing autism (never proven) was removed from vaccines several years ago. If that vaccine had caused the autism, there would have been a HUGE DROP in autism in the past few years, and there has not been.

The vaccine does not cause autism.

Take a deep breath mommy - the tantrums are completely general. considering your son purely says some words, he would not experience which you would be able to comprehend him until eventually he throws suits. this might enhance as his language improves, after which you get to the ever-incredible whiny section :-) For now, attempt to stay as calm and intent as a danger. even nevertheless he can't say plenty, he can unquestionably comprehend you. tell him which you recognize that he needs... in spite of... and then tell him that he could have it while he quits throwing a fit. attempt to apply effective words somewhat than unfavorable ones, i.e., confident, you've gotten some candy when you consume your dinner, somewhat than no, you are able to no longer have any candy staggering now. As for the mountaineering on you - he in all danger in basic terms desires to play, and would not comprehend how sturdy he's. clarify to him that it hurts mommy and practice him another procedures that he can play. considering i'm 5 months pregnant, I unquestionably ought to shop my 2 a million/2 300 and sixty 5 days previous from mountaineering throughout me! It additionally seems such as you rather desire a ruin. Is there somebody who might desire to observe him for an afternoon for you so as which you would be able to get out and luxuriate in some grown-up time to your self? if your funds enable, perhaps evaluate enrolling him in pre-college for a pair of days a week. The interplay with different teenagers may be good for him, and likewise being around different in charge adults. As for the dozing, unquestionably call your pediatrician on that one. that does no longer sound customary in any respect. good success!

There was one flawed study that suggested a link between MMR and Autism.

Since then there have been many studies which disproved the link.

There is no link between the two.
