Yes. I think I am a fairly confident person, but if I'm with a group of people I don't know, I will usually be quiet and sort of listen and watch. Or, for example, when we have staff meetings here at work (school, that is, I'm a teacher), although I know my colleagues, I don't usually say much. Just because a person has self-confidence doesn't mean they have to be an extrovert.

Of course! Introverted doesn't necessarily mean that you don't like talking to people or that you are scared to talk to people because you aren't confident. Introversion is a personality trait and its not necessarily stable. People that are introverted generally don't need others company and are more introspective. So you can still be sure of yourself. I actually think people that are more introverted are more likely to be confident about themselves than extroverts. Since extroverts seem to always need recognition and gratification from outside sources.

Oh yeah. There are some environments that
bring out the introvert in you and others that make you feel confident. Depends on the ambiance.

Sure. A person might be uncomfortable with other people, yet very confident in their own area of expertise. I am pretty good with quantum physics, but not so hot in the social world, so I keep to myself. (Except for HERE, of course)

Sure, who says you can't be both confident and disdainful of human nature simultaneously? I am confident and naturally extroverted, but I have learned to shun people in general because, generally speaking, they aren't worth the effort.
