my daughter won't let me see my granddaughter. I haven't seen her since b4 thanksgiving. It's not my daughter really, but her bf, not the childs father, I am seriously thinking of filing the petition.

Most states do not have Grandparents rights. There has been several case where the grandparents do get some visitiation but in most cases it is not so! If you have been in her life alot then you stand a better chance.
Best of Luck!!

Before trying to go to court for visitation, please ask your daughter out to lunch alone and talk with her about the situation. Don't be confrontational, just talk about how much you love your granddaughter and how important she is to you. Let her know you understand she's being put in the middle, but the best interest of the child must come first. If you weren't nice to her boyfriend or there were some arguments, you need to apologize to her and him. You've got to understand that she's with him now and that's her choice. You may not like it, but you have to be civil and respect your daughter's choices. As you can see, if you're not she'll cut you out of their lives. If you take your daughter to court, your relationship will forever be damaged. This will be very hard to swallow your pride, but your granddaughter is worth it. Do it for her. Good Luck!

You need to check the laws of your specific state.

Basically, a parent has the right to decide who their child is and isn’t allowed to spend time with. In this situation (and other situations would be different) you will have to prove that by not allowing you to see the child, it’s harming the child in some way.
