yes, salt is good for your body! you don't have to stuff it in your mouth though, having salt on some of your meals will be fine. a lot of what you eat already contains salt (sodium) (eg meat).
too much salt can also harm your body (eg rise your blood pressure), but find out what your 'tase' is, cause the body often reacts when it needs some extra salt (for example after sports = sweating -> your body loses salt).
a lot of americans are afraid that salt will harm their body, so they often do not add any salt to their diet at all - but: recently, a study revealed that your brain does need that salt, a lack of it is suspected to higher the risk of becoming alsheimer (and related nervous system deseases).
so find a way that is best for you and you should feel comfortable with what you eat.
good luck

In chemistry, salt is a neutral compound composed of ions.
The word salt may also refer to:
Edible salt or table salt, used as a flavour enhancer and preservative for food
Sodium chloride, the main ingredient in edible salt
Salt (cryptography), an initialization vector of a block cipher
Syntactic salt, a feature designed to make it harder to write bad computer code
I would answer your question in the context of edible salt.
Too much salt content in our food is no good. It may lead to medical problems like hypertension etc.
But salt itself have very good wound healing properties. Some wound cleansing solution e.g. Normal Saline (Sodium Chloride 0.9%) are very effective on wounds.
There is this common phrase; rubbing salt on wound - meaning that to add troubles/pain to a person's distress. However, in real fact, applying edible salt on wound actually helps the wound heal much more faster. Side-effect is the pain.
But if you want your wound to heal faster, this is a better alternative than applying antibotics etc.

Salt is essential for bodily function, and in hot climates you will die pretty quickly without a good salt intake.
One of the first protests held by Mahatma Ghandi was against the tax that the British levied on salt in India. He compared it to taxing water, because its essential for survival.

Salt is vital for proper heart operation. The balance of salt and potassium is the mechanism that causes the heart to beat. Your blood is equal to salt water containing Approximately a .09% solution. Without salt we would die.

Yes - your body needs some salt. Just as animals have salt licks, humans need a bit of salt as well - but need to have a little - not a ton.
