Can I ask? I have noticed and experienced this in life SO many times though both friends, life and even myself. Why do men always want you back when you have moved on? I mean I read a post of a guy that wanted his ex back after 2 years! I mean is it a sudden sparkle that alerts them after this length of time? or is it that men after finishing the relationship have bad experiences with the other woman they meet after? Can all guys who have been through this just give me an insight on how and why you want someone back when they have gone. It is very interesting from a womans point to know...

Well, let me tell you, it is not because the guy has changed or that he is a new man that finally realized what he had been missing. I like to call it the conquer syndrome. When most guys feel they have conquered something, they get bored with it and move on to the next challenge. I am of the opinion (and many will argue I am sure) that most guys do not want to cheat or be unfaithful, they just no longer see what they have as a challenge, there is no more mystery, they have conquered and are now looking for the next challenge. That is why I have answered so many questions here (with very good word back from several) that they need to become a challenge or mystery to their husband or boyfriend again. Quit being so easy or predictable and watch his interest soar again. Well to get back to your question, after a guy and girl split up, I think it is a combination of jealousy (someone else has what used to be his) and renewed challenge, can I get her back?

I don't think it's just men who display this type of behavior. I think some people cheat on or leave someone they love for another because of one reason or another and then find out in time that that person wasn't all they thought they were. They realize what they had and threw away was the best thing they have ever known and want it back.
I have never gone back or even talked to anyone who I used to date or go out with (including my ex-wife).

They're jealous that you're happy without them.
