You may not be able to.
A PDF is supposed to be protected, however there are ways...
The easyest way is to click the text select button, select all the text in the document, copy and paste it into a blank word doc. But this will only do the text without any formatting
There are PDF scanners that read the document and convert to a word file, but these work like OCR on a scanner. This is not infallible, and has trouble with tables and images. Try the link below.

Look here:
http://www.pdfzone.com/article2/0,1895,1766445,00.asp
or follow the steps below:
With the PDF document open in Acrobat 7 Standard or Professional, choose File > Save As. In the Save As dialog box, choose Microsoft Word Document from the Format (Mac) or Type (Windows) pop-up menu. Then simply click the Save button, and open the document in Word for editing.
To check or change the settings that Acrobat uses to convert PDF content to Word format, open Preferences (choose Acrobat > Preferences on the Mac or Edit > Preferences in Windows) and choose Convert From PDF from the list of Categories on the left side of the dialog box. Then choose Microsoft Word Document from the Converting From PDF scrollable list. The window at right shows you how Acrobat will handle the conversion, including whether it will include comments, preserve columns and downsample images. To change these settings, click the Edit Settings button. (Alternatively, you can change these settings when you convert any given document by clicking the Settings button in the Save As dialog box.)
The conversion may not be perfect, depending on factors such as the complexity of the layout, and whether you have the document's fonts on your system. For simple business documents, Acrobat's Save As command does a decent job of converting to Word.

There are a lot of tools out there that claim to do it. None of them are free (though a few allow trial usage or are offered as shareware). I imagine your results will vary based on how well the PDF document was structured in the first place, the effectiveness of the coverter, and other factors.
Yahoo! Search results for "free converter pdf to word":

If you do not have the full blown version of Adobe Acrobat, the only thing you can do is copy and paste. Click on the text selection tool in acrobat reader, then select the entire document. Press Ctrl-C to copy it to the clipboard. Then open Word and press Ctrl-V to paste it into Word.
Not always a clean solution but usually works.

The point of PDF is that you can't edit the file. If you've been given the file from work, tell your supervisor that someone needs their training updating; you should have been given a Word doc or other editable format!
You'd use Adobe Acrobat, the full program is a couple of hundred pounds.

you can't do it with a regular pdf viewer like acrobat reader or preview. you need the full software, like adobe acrobat professional, in order to extract the text and be able to paste it into a word document. there are legal and illegal ways to get the necessary software.

Let's hope you had Word before you installed Acrobat. Then Adobe installed a couple of icons on the toolbar to let you do what you want. Or, from the menu, Acrobat >> Convert to Adobe PDF
