Try using something different to write with. Maybe a different type of pencil, or pen. Sometimes thinner ot thicker pens can help the way you hold it.
And practice, slowly, on lined paper. Give yourself drills. Start with 5 minutes a day, to write one sentence as neatly as possible. After a few days, increase it to two sentences over 7 minutes, keep going, but always try to do it as neatly as possible.

First question are you right or left handed? Left handed people tend to have a more difficult time perfecting penmanship. But, either way..there are some things that with practice should help smooth out your hand writing.
Practice making circles large and low case on a sheet of paper, just O's..then when you have that smooth, connect them with a tail under the bottom of the letter O...then the top connect in the same way...sounds boring but you want a smooth flow of your hand.
Then once you have that down...do arches..like making a series of waves...moving from left to right across the paper.
Make sure your hand and arm are balanced, wrist and elbow on the table..so your hand is supported evenly. A good pen! Not a cheap Bic, try one of the gel pens or roller ball..you want a smooth writing pen that fits your hand, if it's not comfortable to hold or you grip it way down or high up it will unbalance your hand so you'll not move it smoothly over the paper.
Finally..Practice the alphabet..ABC's...take each letter by it's self and work each one till your happy with the shape and look of the letter. Then start copying text...pick a book or poem and write it out...correcting problems as you go..till you have a look your happy with.

I feel your pain. I was always so embarrassed in high school that my handwriting made me look like I was about 10 years old.

There's really only one way to improve it. You have to practice. A lot. Even if it means back-tracking to tracing letters on "kiddie" writing paper. Eventually you *will* see improvement.

There's a book out that might help you. Maybe your parents would be willing to purchase it for you?

i had this problem as well. one thing that helped for me, was that the smaller i seemed to write the neater my handwriting looked...i guess the smaller letters left less space to see how uneven, crooked, and sloppy my letters looked. i now write very small, but i always recieve compliments on how neat my handwriting is; a lot of people think that things that i write are typed! i guess this is kind of an easy way out, compared with spending a number of hours practicing writing your letters, but it worked for me...
