Personally I dislike Dalmatians. Dalmatians are one of those breeds that were ruined by movies and commercialism, 101 Dalmatians. Some of the most vicious dogs I ran into were Dalmatians-one disfigured a child's face and another cornered a shelter worker when he was trying to admit the animal-he had to climb the kennel fence to escape. The rest I met were not to be trusted because either they tried to bite or did. The dogs with undeserved bad rap are pit bulls-the few that are vicious are the result of bad owners.

If you still have your heart set on a Dalmatian-go to a local Kennel Club or veterinarians to get names of reputable breeders. Its impertinent to meet at least the Mom-the Dad may have been sired out from another breeder and may not be possible to meet. Mom's owner needs to give you the dad's owners info-contact them and meet Dad if possible. Its important to at least meet Mom to judge her temperament-her temperament is indicative of the pups eventual temperament also.

I love the look of a Dalmatian, but agree with the previous answer. These dogs have been overbred with lots of inbreeding due to commercialism to keep up with the popularity. I actually had one for a short time, he was the most unruly untrainable dog. He was awful, he actually ate through a wall. Do your research first, find a highly reputable breeder if you decide to go through with it

Her's the dalmatian club of America website.
http://www.thedca.org/
You will find breeders there who follow the clubs code of ethics & should be able to find a healthy puppy there.

I'm sure you already have, but make sure you do a lot of research on them too, they can be a tough breed!
