Please go to the internet and check out Border Collie rescues. They have so many wonderful dogs that need homes for various reasons. And these dogs are grateful for a good home, because they've been on the other side. In a shelter, a bad home, or lost a good home for some reason....usually a death or family catastrophe. If you go with an older dog, you also don't have to deal with difficult "puppy years." Plus, you may save a life.

Border Collie Rescue of East Tennessee, and West Tennessee.

Now - why do your folks want a BC? I have one, and I know the breed can be very demanding. That's why I suggest a rescue dog. Lots of folks choose this breed b/c of the movie "Babe" and other silly reasons. That's why the dogs end up in rescue. Rescue workers will help you really consider seriously if this is the right breed for you. I strongly urge you to contact them to discuss this.

And whatever you do - DON'T buy a dog from a pet shop! Sry to yell, but pet shops are notorious for buying stock from puppy mills. Do yourself and the dogs a favor, and contact the rescue folks. You'll be glad you did - and so will your "new" dog! Good luck!

Look on the internet for MacNab Dogs. These are the best type of Border Collie, and I think there is a breeder of them in the states.

i love border collies too. They have some on petfinders like someone said previously but make sure on any of the adoption place about there background and things like that before you get them. I would adopted but if for any reason you dont want it anymore that is just harder on the dogs so make sure before you get them.

Pet store have them also but they cost more. But if you can adopt do so

good luck

i searched for your area on petfinder.com and found a ton of border collies in need of homes! i think they end up in the shelters a lot because they can be such a handful! sounds like you already have experience with them, so you'd be perfect to give a home to one who needs one!

Here is a link to the border collie society of America.
You can find a list of breeders there & someone should be able to help you locate a dog in your area.

I'm in Australia and I know of at least 3 different places within 1 kilometre of my house where you could get a pure bred Australian Border Collie.

But I guess that makes sense, huh???

lol

check your local colleges, especially community colleges that offer veterinary school. These schools usually have a set of dogs that the students practice on. Most of the dogs that are not used go back to the pound, where alot are put to sleep. I feel terrible for these dogs, as they have had a terrible life full of surguries and unecessary enima's. Try and save one of these dogs first please, they are perfect for spoiling, and are usually well behaved and trained.
