No, of course it doesn't hate you.
The cat is in a new enviorment...with new sounds and new smells and new people.
It takes cats a while to adapt to change, give him sometime and let him take things at his own pace..don't try to force the cat do anything, when he's ready he'll allow you to pet him.
Good for you for doing the responsible thing and finding him a good home...and not being like some people and just throwing him out on the street or taking him to a shelter.

He's upset with the huge change in his life- new house or apartment and new people. He doesn't know why this happened or who is to blame. I'm sure he does recognize you but is just to upset to acknowledge you. Cats are very territorial and as a rule, hate change, but he'll adjust, with time. He doesn't blame YOU personally for his unhappiness, since he has no concept as to why the changes happened. You did what you needed to do, and you found him a good home, so that is what matters. Give him time to settle in to his new surroundings, and in time he'll show affection to you again.

He's winding you up because he knows it gets you going. I have a cat that was given me by a friend who could no longer keep her. The cat sometimes acts a bit snooty when she comes to visit but I know she's pleased to see her really.

How long has it been. He most likely is still adjusting to his new environment. Have your friend crate him when your en route and you get him out of the crate to visit.
He is just doing what shy cats do. Nothing personal.

That is impossible. Hate is for humans only.
When animals seem to dislike a human it is not hate.
The cat might have problems but hate is not it.
