I raise LoveBirds & Cocatiels my Cocatiels laid 5 egg's 3 was fertile i candled them. The Cockatiels lost interest after sitting on them for about 2 weeks. I put the egg's in with the LoveBirds the Mother buried the egg's for 3 day's. After she laid her first egg, she uncovered two of the Cockatiels eggs and is now sitting on them. Do they stand a chance? When i noticed the Cocatiels wasn't sitting on the egg's, the egg's was only cold a few hours. As far as my LoveBirds, they have alway's been GREAT Parents.

I doubt the cockatiel eggs will hatch. I don't know how, but birds know when there's something wrong. They may have been fertile but died in the egg, which happens sometimes if conditions aren't right. Once they go cold that's it. I handle my cockateils eggs all the time, cleaning the nest, the parents just come straight back and sit on them, so I don't think that was the problem. Just clean the nest, feed them well and they will most likely lay more eggs very soon. Good luck.

There is a chance, but it is a slim one. The eggs probably had a problem and that is why the cockatiels lost intrest.

I don't know if the lovebirds will feed the cockatiel babies or not. You should have a brooder available and ready along with hand feeding formula, lessons on how to do it, a thermometer for the brooder, one for the formula, and a plan on how to feed the cockatiels on schedule so they don't die. Feeding starts at every two hours 24 hours a day. They shouldn't wean for quite a while, so be prepared!

I am not a breeder, so I don't truly know. But technically I don't see why it would not work as long as the egg wasn't cold for too long.

i think they lost interest because you handled the eggs, i have no idea if the love bird thing will work but science has documented that scenarios like that, that have worked IE dogs nursing baby cats.
