IF you go to www.studyspanish.com, they offer a good set. Although, I've never used them. I never needed to because I've learned spanish with the lessons right on that website and with friends. I've been studying Spanish for 6 years now and I still don't all the words but I'm fluent enough to where I can hold a conversation decently. In fact, it's the only language I speak at work now. Building your vocabulary is really all that is needed to learn a language. Well of course grammer and sentence structure is also important. However, the key is vocabulary.

I applaud your efforts to give the perfect gift, but a good Spanish/English dictionary is all that is needed. If you want to do both the CD's and the dictionary, then your ambition is noted.

Linguaphone is the best for beginners you get the c.d's and also the back up literature,I used these and I am fluent in Spanish,I've lived in Spain for 10 years which has helped me perfect my use of the language. There are 4 different versions of the spanish language and the one you should choose to learn is Castellano,as this is the most widely spoken version and comes in useful if you visit other Spanish-speaking countries elsewhere in the world.

If they are for a complete beginner, you could try Michel Thomas' Spanish course, available from WH Smith or Amazon. They are quite rpicey, about £80 for the full course. You are supposed to be able to pick up the basics without using a book.
For a cheap and quite good CD-based course, you could do worse than the one available from Lidl at £4.99 (4 CDs). They were on sale last week, I think and your local Lidl might still have them. The approach is more conventional, but well planned and not too overloaded.

CDs can be a good means of learning a language and a lot of people have recommended a company called Linguaphone. However there is never a substitute in my opinion to actually getting stuck in so I can recommend perhaps signing them up for a learning course at the local college or a distance learning course where they will get to interact with people of different levels and abilities to really get into the language!

CD's are a good way to learn the pronunciation of spanish but they are not very useful in learning the language as a whole. However, if you wanted something to help you learn quick spanish say for travel, I can recommend Berlitz Rush Hour Spanish (Berlitz Rush Hour). You can order it online at amazon

I think its like 25 bucks or less. Good luck

Those things don't work. The best way to learn Spanish is to actually go to a Spanish speaking country and stay there for 6 months. Also, taking inmersion classes at a community college is a big help too.

The Instituto Cervantes will prepare the student for the official certificate of Spanish as a Second Language: DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera). Some classes incorporate the use of multimedia (video, audio, CD-ROM, and connection to Spanish television)...

Arabic is an exceedingly perplexing language for close by-audio device of English to income in the experience that they haven't any history to commence with. you want to ask your self some substantial questions: a million. are you going to have opporunities to apply Arabic as you would in case you realized Spanish? 2. Is Arabic going to be appropriate adequate to you to spend all those hours upon hours of exertions? 3. Be careful when choosing any c.d's regarding learning Spanish. There is Catalan and Valenciano. Both are Spanish languages, but one is entirely different from the other. If you want it for a present, find out which one would most suit their needs.
