You can put your vegs in your pot with a small amount of water then cook until they are tender. If you put in too much water then they don't cook like they're steamed and get soggy.

LOL, I had the same question when I moved into my apartment! My boyfriend is a quicker thinker apparently because he had the idea of using my strainer in the pot. Put water in the pot, put the strainer on top and use one of your big pot lids on top.
I was trying to play with aluminum foil, poking holes in it and trying to make some basket like thing to fit into my pot... strainer's much easier if you have one of those around!

go to wal-mart and buy a strainer.
then put the veggies in strainer and put a bit of water in bottom of pot and boil water, but not touching veggies.

then cover and steam for a few minutes.

take care.

You can also steam vegetables in the microwave.

Put the veggies in a covered casserole dish with a little bit of water. Microwave for a minute or so and check the doneness of the vegetables. If they need a little more time, try again for 30 seconds.

Its easy.

You could put a tiny bit of water in a pan and put the veggies in a cover and bring to almost a full boil for about 3 minutes.Keep an eye on them tho.Too long they will be mushy.

they can be steamed in the microwave too. I bought a micro steamer at walmart for about 5 bucks. You can also make a foil pouch with the vegies in it and set it on a coffee cup in the pan of boiling water

You can buy or mae a little basket to go in the bottom of a pan. You need a tight cover to keep the steam in. Do not over cook.

Do you have a stainless steel colander?? Or a strainer??
If you position it in your pan and can close the lid it should work for you.
