If it is loose and causing you pain or discomfort, I would seek a second opinion. My husband's father still has his baby teeth on the bottom. They just never came out. He never told anyone and when my husband was younger, a dentist pulled all his front teeth so his adult teeth could come in. Surprise! There were no adult teeth there to come in. He ended up having to have a bridge put in and has had trouble with that for several years. Now we have a child and his sister has children. We took the kids to a dentist and told her the history so she x-rayed their mouths. All of them have missing adult teeth. We already know which teeth will not have adult teeth behind them and the dentist is charting their growth so when the time comes, they can do the necessary work to keep their mouths healthy. This is a syndrome (that I can't pronounce) that is hereditary.

I am not a dentist, but i worked for a dentist, so i have seen this before. If you still have the baby tooth, then that means that you probably did not have an adult tooth to replace that tooth. Your baby teeth start falling out because the adult tooth is pushing the baby tooth out. I say leave it alone unless it bothers you or is causing pain or bothers you because it looks different than the other teeth. See another dentist for a second opinion if you want to get rid of it.

I have one and I'm 29. I've spoken with a couple of people with the same situation who have had a false tooth placed in where the baby tooth was.

One person had a false tooth that looked real. The other had a false tooth made out of gold. The gold tooth cost about $600 to have it placed in. I don't know how much the other was.

You are 37 and still have a baby tooth??? It is very strange. I didn't have anymore baby tooth since I was 12. You need a better dentist to discuss this issue.

We have alot in common. I lost a baby tooth at the age of 37. I had an implant made to fill its space.

My ex-husband still has a baby tooth also. His is a canine, I think, and his dentist said to hold onto it as long as he can. It's not loose though...that's interesting that yours is.

I knew a girl in college that basically never got her adult teeth. It was a little odd, but she was living a normal life.
