I have burnt a number of CDR's which used to play OK on my car CD but now the sound breaks up half way through a disc. CD's still play OK on other players - any ideas anyone

It may not be the CD's but the car stereo system itself. There IS a warning on the CDR boxes that warn of a risk that it may not be compatible with all players.

The CD Player in my new car sometimes tells me that it's a bad disk (and I'm referring to store-bought CD's) and when I re-insert it, it plays fine.

you would no longer have burnt them as an AUDIO CD, merely merely placed the music information onto the CD so as that they are truly worthless in a stereo gadget which contain your motor vehicle's. you would possibly want to wish Itunes to burn an audio disc utilizing the CD. yet another component, i does no longer use CD-R's on the grounds that once you burn some thing you won't be able to take it off, get CD-RW's instead.

Try burning them at a slower speed 8X or lower- you may have switched to a higher speed without knowing it. They take longer to burn, but they usually work better.

Some CD players can handle a CD burned full speed - but some are tricky.
