canon speedlite 430EX and canon speedlite 580EX; anyone who has experience with the flash? 580EX is a little to expensive though. but i am just wondering, is it worth it? or a amateur/photography enthusiast, speedlite 430ex is enough?

The 580 has a bit more power and it can be used to trigger other flashes in a multiple flash setup. So you're not paying for the name. (TomTom, dude?!)
Having said that, the 430 is also a very sophisticated flash and it has more than enough power & features for general use.

I have the 420EX which is the precursor to the 430EX. There's only a small percentage of times that I've found myself wishing for the extra power of the 580EX. I don't know if the 430EX has FEC built into it (the 420 doesn't). If your camera doesn't allow FEC (like the original digital rebel, for example) then that might be an issue and a good reason to step up to the 580.

430ex is fine.
sometimes the cheaper one works better.
with the 530 you are paying for the name.
