"Caring for others" has different meanings in different contexts..
To be kind to everyone in general is always good..
It could also mean that we dont care what others think of us..
Which is acceptable. If we care about other's opinions of us all the time,it would never give us the space to fulfill our dreams..
As long as you know you're right,it's not necessary that you take others' judgements as anything more than a pinch of salt.
It is a fact that people will talk even if you're doing the right thing..

Caring for others, is a broad question. Exactly what do you mean? I care for others, like the sick, the elderly, and I foster abused dogs. However I won't give money to a druggie, or let them into my life. I don't need that BS. More times then not whenvever I have helped someone, I ended up getting robbed, or screwed somehow.
If a person needs help, they need to help themselves first. If they aren't willing to do that, all the help you give them will not matter.
I do look after those who can not help themselves eg. and elderly couple who needs help with things around the house, or a child that needs some help and guidence.
I also care for injured animals they can't help themselves either. As far as adults with hands out... No way I been there and done that.

I do care that your modifier is just left dangling there like that. Try a preposition every now and then, I think here "for" would of helped with the structure of your sentence. (Please understand, the humor here is that I am diagramming your sentence. I cannot figure out "See spot run." So I am being very hypocritical, that is why it was funny. Anybody... anybody see the funny... I guess not, OK anyways I will move on)
I see people care for others all the time. Peace core has the highest number of members it ever has. Donations are at their highest levels ever. Volunteers are putting in more hours then ever before. (All quoted from The Weekly Standard") So people do care, now more then ever.
take care of your self.
