think he is probably running a play for you but you need to stick to people closer to your own age for a while. if you have never seen him in person he may even be some 35 year old guy trying to hook up with a young girl for sex!!

It matters because your mom loves you way more than any guy. You may have a big crush on this guy but the fact that you haven't seen him face to face makes this all a bit unrealistic. Maybe he isn't as great as you think. If you actually spent time with him, face to face, you may come to realize that. It is a bit flattering to be liked by a high schooler when you're only in 8th grade, huh? But just remember, your mom has the power to ground you. If she finds out you're doing something she asked you not to, she will probably discipline you. Truth is always the best choice. Lying or hiding things just causes anxiety and ends up in trouble.

Well, the age difference isn't that big of a deal. BUT- your mom's just trying to look after you and spare you having to grow up any faster than necessary. You've never met him face to face? Did you meet him online? If so, this is a completely different story. It's important to KNOW the person you're thinking about dating. Otherwise, it could turn out to be a 42yr old pervert/child molester...... You already know your mom's going to say no, why not try to keep yourself safe and make her happy. Ask about going on a group date with friends your mom knows and trusts? Just whatever you do, don't try to rush growing up...

Well he not that old like a junior or senior so I would talk to him and make away so that you can see him. When it comes down to it you need to tell your mom and say that he's not but 1 or 2 yrs older than me.The limit on the age between a younger person adn one that's older is 4 yrs. apart. When you get 18 u can talk to whoever.

Wait till you're in highschool and then see if you still like him. A sophmore that would date an 8th grader is a dork. Find a hottie your own age, it would be more fun.

I think if you haven't even met this guy he's not your boyfriend. You are young, but you should try to find someone your own age or focus on school and not boys.

well as you have not met ---- be careful about what happens online and keep talking to him --- if he is serious he will still be around when you are older but please be very careful there are lots of people who lie about their age ---- yes i can appreciate your mother's point of view as well --- she wants to protect you --- but be safe dont do anything you feel uncomfortable with and see what happens in the future

sure i could say tell your mother and take the flak but he may be genuine and it could be a fulfilling relationship in the future
