no you can't claim him, he's not a student you are supporting also he's not living with you.

Oh Yeah, right sure...what do you expect from a guy in prison? He's manipulating you (again). It's what they do best.
He does not live with you 12 months a year so how can you claim him as a dependent? You are not supporting him...the taxpayers are with a roof, bed, shower, 3 square meals, etc.
You can't even claim him for donations...he's not legit. Sorry Mom... he hasn't changed...he's still a con man and addict who just wants his fix of candy and cigarettes or whatever he can buy from other inmates.

IF you provided over half his income it might be worth checkign into although I'm pretty sure that even then you could not. If I can find any reference on it Ill post it...

you cannot claim him on your taxes. more than half his supporty comes from the prison (state, federal or county). therefore, you cannot claim him
