It sounds to me that the yelling and abusive remarks aren't working so perhaps you should approach the situation in a different manner or ask someone else to talk with the person. I would sit down over coffee or cocktails and let the person know in a calm and informed way that you are concerned about their health and you've tried to talk to them about it and just haven't gotten the message through to them. Let them know that you care, that your not just joking or trying to be critical of them. Tell them you really are afraid it's Perio Gum Disease and they don't realize how bad it really is. Tell them it's an infection that attacks the tissue and the bone that hold the teeth in place. That it's also the disease that if left untreated, leads to the rapid loss of teeth, and is known to cause other serious health problems due to the constant infection that's being left to run rampant throughout the body. If that doesn't do it tell him/her it's what puts most people in dentures before their time. I hope I've given you some ammo to use in this situation, and I do understand how difficult it is to tell someone. I have to deliver the same information to patients all the time. It's a little easier for me since I'm in dentistry and they came there willingly wanting to know what is wrong. At any rate, good luck!

Be truthful and polite. tell him which you value his friendship & could on no account desire to lose him. And as his chum you notice that he has no longer the terrific smelling breath. A breath undertaking. i could go and lookup strategies on line so which you would be able to furnish suggestion. He could or won't be ware of his breath so do no longer make it a private attack. He could pull awat before everything because of the fact he's embarrased. do no longer take it in my opinion & stay available. he will come returned around.

If it isn't brushing, flossing or tounge cleaning, or regular dentist teeth cleaning that is clearing up the problem, let them know that their breath could be a possible health problem due to acid reflux, or something else.... and maybe they need to see a doctor about their breath. It could be serious.

This is a hard one. You must not obviously want to hurt their feeling like me. So that's why I'm not sure either. Maybe leave mint's on their desk, work station, or where ever they can get them. Without them knowing you did it. Or, if you don't care if they know, maybe buy a bag of pepperimint and put them in a cute little candy jar and give to them. Good luck!

Be more forceful and direct in telling them and suggest they have their teeth checked or it could be some medicine they are taking or something they are eating, maybe Garlic.
If they don't want to hear you then in the future when you are talking to them put your hand over your nose and mouth, maybe then they will do something about it.
