Yes, as a matter of fact, I believe smoking as a whole should be illegal. Think about it. Smoking is BAD, there is no reason to smoke except to cause health problems and it's the most addictive habit there is besides alcoholism. Think of all the good people that die from it. Did you know there was virtually NO cancer at all before 1900 when smoking cigarettes became popular? Smoking in a home with children in it is child abuse plain and simple and it should be a criminal offense for all those too stupid or too lazy to go outside to do it.

Wow, that's a really tough question and I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of thumbs down for my answer, but here goes. I am a smoker and I have a 15 month old girl. I never ever smoke in the house. I always go outside and walk away from the house and only when someone is there to watch her. I do think that smoking in the house when you have a baby or child should be a punishable offence. The child has no say right now and it causes major damage to the child. I believe that it is a form of child abuse.

Let we keep the matter of 'offence' aside for a moment. Basically, if partner and off springs (mostly they are not) are not with smoking, then smoking inside home is much disgusting. It makes man or woman a animal without dignity and care in front of partner and children. They should know and think about collective freedom before indulging these things.

First off, NO it shouldn't be punishable!! Let's don't start passing laws to regulate everything! But I do think smokers should be aware of how dangerous passive smoke is. I don't smoke but my parents do and the inside of their house reeks with stinky smoke. When I visit I can only stand it for an hour or so then I have to go outside for fresh air or just leave. It gets on my clothes and in my hair. I take a shower when I get home cause I can't stand it!!! Make it illegal to smoke in your own house? NO !!

No,parents of children with asthma should curtail the smoking around them, even go outside to smoke or designate a specific room to smoke in. And get into a program to kick the habit. We have so many much larger problems to deal with in this country that we really do no have the resources to spy on and arrest smokers.Such as the meth[ and other drugs ]epidemic, poverty, homelessness, global warming, the war,the aids epidemic, our schools are in serious trouble, young people can't read or write or spell, they can not do simple math such as balancing a checkbook, and on and on.Our tax money needs to be spent on what are real problems. But if we are serious as a society about banning smoking , We could start by putting the tobacco industry out of business since they are the ones who started this in the first place, and continue to increase the amount of nicotine in cigaretts to make sure that people become addicted and stay addicted to their products .That is the real crime and they should be stopped from doing it and be punished for causing the illness and deaths of so many people ,all for profit .It is shameful!

Frankly, as a Con (thanks for the slur), I don't give a rats *** what you put into your body. The problem is that pot is an illegal drug for now. As long as it's illegal, people will be killed trying to get it to you or preventing you getting it. Either way, you're responsible for those deaths and all the misery that comes with it. Now, the moment it's legalized, then you can smoke your head into oblivion, lay on your *** and not work, veg out, and be useless to society if you wish. Until then, try getting a dose of reality and growing up.

No. Every aspect of our life should not be controlled by the government or laws. After all we are adults and some amount of discretion and responsibility are expected from us.
I agree that smoking and passive smoking both are injurious to health. Also, one should not smoke in presence of children or pregnant lady.
But have you ever thought that how would you feel if the police came knocking at your door at 2am just to check if you were smoking in your bed room and insist on being given access to the bed room . Will it not promote corruption and harassment ?
Hence, I feel it is better to excercise self control and self regulation rather than to expect the laws to regulate every aspect of our lives.

Maybe health insurance companies should refuse to pay for what is determined as cigarette-smoke induced illnesses.
You can argue that this punishes innocent children, but then again so does smoking....it really irks me when i see a pregnant woman smoking or person with young kids smoking around them.

I respect others right to breath in clean n clear air and at the same time i am a smoker! i stay alone n i smoke at home , but even at home if i have a visitor i make sure that he or she doesnt mind me smoking! This is a personal choice and i dnt think you can make it a regulatory must. Then you will hv to ban manufacturing and selling of tobacco products!
If tobacco is banned, people will smoke weed more!
