I gained a great deal of weight being bedridden and five years ago I lost 100lb.. So I know it can be done. What I did was I cut out bread, pastry, candy, Milk products, and rice. I only ate protein like chicken, turkey, and fish. I ate vegetables including potatoes without any fat or cooking oil. I had at least two pieces of fruit the day. I drank it at least 2qt. of water a day. It took me over a year to lose the weight, but it did come off. So please don't give up. I also used the supplement chromium, one tablet three times a day. That really helped me not crave food.

I lost 23 pounds last year by modifying my diet and exercise habits. The first 20 came off in 4 months, the last 3 in maintenance over the last 8 months of the year. Link to the free diet and exercise website I use is at the bottom (you need to register).
Diet and exercise is the only way that has been proven to take the pounds off in the long term.

I didn't. But i have lost a stone by drinking lots of water and stopping overeating. Whenever I feel hungry I drink lots of water to fill me up and then I try to wait for the next meal instead of snacking. I've tried exercising a lot!

have little low fat dinners you can have 5 a day. eat chicken and fish rather then red meat only snack on low fat treats and if at any time you feel like piging out just have a ice pole or a big glass of water takes the hungry feeling away. do lots of walking

Diets do not work. 99% of people gain the weight back. No one teaches the animal what to eat and what not to eat. He knows instinctively what to eat. Humans also have the same instinct. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load.
