Nope... although they can sometimes be pretty nasty and vicious, they are not on the list.

Section 1 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 prohibits four types of dog:

the Pit Bull Terrier
the Japanese tosa
the Dogo Argentino
the Fila Brasileiro

Hope this helps!!

They are number two for both United Kingdom and America.

Personally, if these dogs attack it's down to the owners. Rottweillers are very good at obedience training and agility training. If these dogs are socialised well they off no threat to the public. However, some owners are just plain stupid and wont do what it takes to socialise a dog. They think that to have the best guard dog they must NOT socialise the Rottweiller. What they fail to understand is that these dogs are natural guard dogs and they don't need any special training or abuse.

Rotties are banned in many municipalities in Canada. It's a shame that irresponsible owners have given a bad reputation to such wonderful dogs.
There is so much breed specific legislation around, that I worry that my own Great Danes could be added to the list sometime. Everyone knows them as the "gentle giants", but some people only have to look at a large dog, and immediately start screaming that they are "dangerous". Luckily, I live in an unincorporated area.

I know you already have the correct answer: no. But I just wanted to say that I've got a 5yr old rottie and he's the most gentle, friendly dog you ever could meet.

He gets on well with our household cats, is great with kids and has never so much as growled in all the time i've had him.

If people bring up their dogs responsibly, they won't be dangerous. Sure, some dogs are bred to have strong bite mechanisms, etc but they won't use them for bad things if they are trained properly.

It's a real shame certain dogs have such a bad name, because it's usually because of bad owners.

Uk here...no they are not on the dangerous dogs list. However, many dogs can be dangerous...a lot depends on the owner and how good a handler they are. The thing with Rotties though, is their weight, in the wrong hands you'd have little chance of getting it off you.

A Jack Russell badly bit my sister's face some years ago. So while some is in the breed, most I would think is down to the owner.

Rottweilers aren't dangerous. In fact, they're pretty lovable and they are really loyal. It's just that the breed has strong guarding instincts which can go out of hand when not properly taken care of just like any dog. Compared to the Chow chow or the pit bull terriers though, this breed's temperament is good. With proper training they can be one of the greatest companions as well.

The breed itself has a bad rep for being aggressive, but ANY dog can be friendly depending on the way it is raised. If you were to take a rottweiler and raise it around kids and teach it good manners, I guarantee it will be an excellent companion. It all depends on how it is raised. They make wonderful pets.

No they are not. But I do think many owners of dogs should be on a list !
They can be a very loyal and responsible breed , but like any dog even a titsy one, they will react to abuse and respond with aggression i permitted....

They might be on some list or another, but they're not bad dogs. Any dog can be turned bad because of maltreatment, and some are more aggressive than others. But certain breeds of dogs aren't inherently "man-eaters."

If you are talking about the UK Dangerous Dogs Act, no they are not, but ANY owner can be taken to court if their dog of whatever breed is dangerously out of control.
