A mole or birthmark. Also called beauty mark. Or a small black mark pencilled or glued on a woman's face or shoulders to accentuate the fairness of her skin or to conceal a blemish. Also called beauty mark, patch. The noun Beauty Spot has one meaning: a spot that is worn on a lady's face for adornment. Freckles are flat, circular spots that typically range in the size of the head of a nail. The spots develop randomly on the skin, especially after repeated exposure to sunlight and particularly in persons of fair complexion. Freckles vary in colour -- they may be red, yellow, tan, light-brown, brown, or black -- but they are always darker than the skin around them since they are due to deposits of the dark pigment called melanin. The word "freckle" comes from the Middle English "freken," which, in turn, came from the Old Norse "freknur," meaning "freckled."
Hope this helps

Moles are usually bigger then freckles. Moles may sometimes have a hair that grows out from them. Freckles are discolored spots from the pigments in your skin or sometimes the ray from the sun forms them on your skin. Moles are usually dark colored and they bump up from your skin. Freckles you can't feel, you can only see.

Beauty spots are usually single spots and freckles are multiple spots, usually from the sun. If you want to fade them try rubbing them with the inside skin of a Mango, thats what I did on my face and they are gone.

Size and colour, I would have thought. Also, aren't freckles more a reaction to the skin being exposed to sunlight? Don't they fade over time, whereas moles/beauty spots are there for keeps?

As far as I'm aware moles (on the face) are often called beauty spots. Freckles are freckles.

it's a semantic term to make you feel better about having them. Sort of like saying that men "sweat", but women "glisten."
